Our story began in April 2022 when Mitchell and Alesha matched on the dating app Hinge. They exchanged a grand total of 3 humorous messages, at which point Alesha deleted the dating app due to bad luck dating people she had met on dating apps. Mitchell took matters into his own hands, on Easter Day, April 17, 2022, when he typed in the name “Alesha Jex” in Instagram. He found that they shared a few mutual followers and sent her a direct message (or as the kids would say "slid into the DM’s"). To this day, Alesha claims that the reason she decided to say yes to Mitchell’s date proposition was because on that Easter Day he posted a picture on Instagram of him and his beloved grandmother Janet Cameron. She thought “A guy that loves his grandmother and posts pictures with her must be worth at least 1 date.” The rest is history!

Their first date was at the Lengthwise Restaurant in Bakersfield, CA on Wednesday April 20th, 2022. It was right next to the CSU Bakersfield campus, where Alesha was studying Biology. They met after her class that day, and the thing that Alesha said she appreciated most about that first date was when Mitchell and she sat down, he said “I have SO many questions about you”. She felt like he actually wanted to get to know her, which is something that is rare in the modern dating scene.

After 1 month of dating, on May 30th, 2022, Mitchell took Alesha to the Santa Monica Pier, where he gave her a heart necklace and professed his love for her and asked her to go steady. Although this came as a shock, Alesha said yes. Looking back, they both feel like it was meant to be because it just so happened that both of their parents got engaged after just 3 months of dating. They grew up with the understanding that when it comes to your soul mate – “When you know, you know.”

They got a dog together, Bear, in April of 2023. Later that year they moved to the beautiful town of Paso Robles together. That is where they ended up getting engaged on March 9th, 2024, at the Justin Winery Estate, a place that will always be special to them.

We truly appreciate all of the love and support over our 3 years together, and we are so grateful to give you all a weekend of fun, food, dancing, and drinks (including Justin Wine!) – which we hope creates memories that will last a lifetime.
