Alice zip lining in Mexico.

Wasn’t a happy beginning to a long day when I woke up at 1:30 am and told TLB(The Lovely Babette) that I couldn’t sleep and was going to pack up and hit the road. Several obscenities later we were on the road at 2:15. Pitch black Texas 2 Lane Hwy with hundreds of deer alongside and on the road. Very scary especially when a whole herd of deer ran out from the woods in front of me and 1 actually ran into the side of the RV(See pic with fur and broken compartment door) Tenderized a Bambi I guess for some hungry Texas roadkill hunter
Drove close to a huge wildfire outside of Clovis NM which we learned later was evacuated because of the fire
Finally made our stop for the night back in Albuquerque NM where we stayed last week
Over 700 miles toady and all’s well. Pic of my liquid consumption included( A bit of a different variety than in the old days)
Found a great Mexican market and picked up a wild selection for dinner including a pineapple tamale
Bad wind forecasts for the next 2 days so leaving early again and hopefully make the Grand Canyon before ir gets too bad. May even stay 2 nites and wait for the winds to die down

Howdy from the Capitol of the Great State of Texas

Eureka We Made It !!

Seems anti-climatic (Don’t even go there) after all of the driving but this Park is great that Nichole picked out. Wide open spaces with every amenity

Had a great dinner with Nichole and Charles on the Colorado River last night. (Look it up-Yes the Colorado River)

Great fun place a lot like Hawaii and everyone we meet has that great friendly Texas attitude except when driving

Hanging out and touring Austin today and doing my favorite thing. Shopping for wedding dresses. I can barely contain my enthusiasm

HAPPY EASTER

Friday, April 22, 2011

Wow what a difference when you only have to drive 2 hours!!

Took Abbie to a beauty parlor that looked like a jail. She was looking pretty haggard (and I don’t mean Merle which we have been listening too in Texas)

San Antonio is just awesome

The River Walk is everything we heard it would be. Kinda a cross between Amsterdam(without the Red Lights) and Disneyland

The Alamo was missing only John Wayne. Otherwise a great Historical Site and museum

Great day to kick back for a change

Tomorrow only 2 hrs to Austin and 3 days without moving. Hooray and Yippie Kiyay!

We both have the rocking sensation like on a boat

Looking forward to seeing Nichole and Charles

Hola from Albuquerque NM (is this where I have taken a left?) 5th day very uneventful except started out at the Monument Valley Museum which had beautiful views. Then traveled back roads to Gallup NM (Where dale and I got escorted out of town by the sheriff in 1975).

Thought i would enjoy the morning's view I had while jogging with Abbie. Doesn't get much better except the Indians like to scare you when they are driving past. Elevation is surprising 5431 ft above sea level which makes for hard running up the hills for this fat old man. off to unknown parts today. Happy Trails, Cousin Eddy, Babette and snow dog Abby

Headed to Zion and took a helicopter to see the park. Wide ride, small copter, bumpy. Babette was not very happy camper and is now just starting to talking to me and then it's only to cuss at me. Glad we did it , is was beautiful.

Hola from Albuquerque NM (is this where I shoulda taken a left? 5th day uneventful except started out at the Monument Valley Museum which had beautiful views. Then traveled the back roads to Gallup NM (where Dale and I got excorted out of town by the sheriff in 1975). Hit snow and hail several time and still gusty wind which makes for exciting driving. All bad weather supposed to be gone this morning so clear sailing into the hot desert. Headed toward Roswell NM and the UFO museum and Carlsbad Caverns where we hope to stay the night. Happy Trails, Jim (pilot and brave commander, Babette (fearless navigator and co-pilot) and Abbie (Tail Gunner and Bombardier.)

Woke up to 7 inches of snow and 60 mphs winds. Great fun except for driving which was white knuckle all the way to Moab which is at the entrance to Arches National Park. Having a few issues with the generator so stuck here until tomorrow to get it fixed before leaving. Due to the bad weather for casted for the next few days we will catch the Grand Canyon and Monument on the way home and just head southeast. Happy Trails, Jimmy, Babette and Abbie
