Alas, it appears that your intrepid Narrator and favorite Son has been remiss is his duties as of late in failing to file his reports of travel, fun and high adventure.
Well, this time we are off to Boise via Portland
If you have any geographic savvy you will say this makes no sense as Portland is not on the way to Boise. But who said I had any sense?
But Alas!! (I’m feeling a bit Piratish this early A.M.) Boise is but our destination to watch our niece Emily and her championship team play in a multistate tournament
So anyway we left very early on Friday morning kidnapping our Niece Lauren(15yrs and Emily’s sister)and headed to Potland(Not a misspelling if you have ever been there)
Long 600+mile trip but made it in a day and are camped right along the Columbia River. Actually saw a mountain Lion roadkill which is very rare
Have had a great time visiting with My sister Celeste and my ever ready partner for adventure Suzanne.
After much cajoling and lying to Bodacious we took a high speed and soaking ride on a jetboat on the Willamette River. Better than any amusement ride and a lot wetter. Once over the shock even Bodacious seemed to be enjoying it although I am sure I am going to be reminded later how I tricked her into this and that I said she wouldn’t get wet. It was also interesting watching a 15yr old girl(Lauren) trying to keep her hair perfect when it keeps getting drenched every 5 minutes
Great trip and beautiful view of the Willamette falls. Highly recommend it
Hooked up with my cousin Steve for a wonderful visit and trip down memory lane. Have known Steve all of my life and it was great to get to know each other again and share who we are now. My, how we have changed and have taken such different journeys only to find ourselves so much alike at this later stage in life. Feel a true kinship like never before.
Anyway we were also able to hookup with our wonderful HMB friends Lorraine and Bar’s daughter Lauren for a brief visit. Beautiful, fun young Lady
Any Diners,Drive-ins and Dives fans will surely know of the VooDoo Bakery which is just incredible. Line out the door on a late Sunday afternoon. Go figure!!
There is a reason. It is incredibly good. Any place that has a bacon maple bar has got to be good. If you are ever within a hundred miles of this place detour here. Well worth it but not particularly good for this Fat, Old, White Guys waistline. Also woke up with a sugar hangover(Better than the old kind though)
Hooked up for lunch along the Columbia River with Rebecca Phillips, our old neighbor and her Boyfriend Greg and had a wonderful visit watching the sailboats and F-15’s screaming overhead from the nearby base
Heading to Hood River this morning and will travel all along the Columbia via hwy 14 (Lewis and Clark Hwy)- (Wonder what king of RV they had?) and hope to camp in Umatilla(HuH?) Where do they get these names? Potland influence?
So, Until next time. May your trails be clear and your heart soar like an eagle
