The world has lost a most wonderful person. Sophia Shelby, beautiful inside and out, passed away last weekend as a result of complications from Type1 Diabetes, also known as Juvenile onset diabetes. Sophie was diagnosed 3 years ago and has struggled with symptoms since. She was 27. Sophia was a delicate flower, a light in everyone's world. She was kind, loving, easy to love. We all loved her so much. She has been in our lives for over 10 years when my son, Michael, began dating her. They met as students at San Joaquin Memorial and have been together since. She was the love of his life, his soulmate, his best friend. His grief is unimaginable. Sophia's father, has lost both of his children within a couple of years. My heart breaks for him, and the rest of Sophia's family who must cope with this tragic loss. We love you Sophia and will miss you always. — Beth Bandy
